No, I don't believe that luck is involved, except for lottery winners. However, I do believe that the harder that I work, the luckier I get. By that, I mean that by having a good work ethic and pursuing your dream, your mind becomes open to the opportunities (luck) that most people will overlook

I think it was Edison who said, and I am paraphrasing, "most people don't succeed because success is often disguised as hard work". I agree.

The cry that those who are successful are lucky is the top rail on the fence that keeps the herd of mediocrity together.

Luck also plays a critical role, despite its omission in this list. Its relative importance may depend on a particular circumstance, but it comes more often to those with the five traits than others - "luck comes to those who work hard".

A big one is AOL instant message or Yahoo IM. I find that I've blocked out everything else but keeping in contact with people on these is so addictive. Especially since I have them forwarded to my phone if I leave my office. New services like Twitter make all these things more of a time drain.

Like you I had a great father's day because I got to spend some quality time with my boys. Also like you, the scene where the boy wanted his father but couldn't be with him always braks my heart too! I weep for today's children who have no Idea waht it means to have a real father. We are blessed!

I appreciate your comment. I've yet to make the big jump (to Ubuntu) due to the fact that I have been pursuing a couple of business startups and they are consuming so much time. However, due to a recent "tech issue" (my computer would just reboot randomly), I was about to be pushed into it. Right now, I am back up and running. I have installed a second hard drive in my computer, on which I plan to install Ubuntu and then have a dual boot system. My father-in-law has a computer consulting business and he has offered to help. But if you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know the pitfalls and precautions.

My wife led me to your blog and I'm a computer consultant. I'm definitely a Kubuntu guy myself even though I use every operating system. As much as I love Linux I do have to admit that there may be a couple bumps you may hit converting depending on your computer uses. I'm always willing to help though. I think I'll blog a series on this.
